Vezyot says antitrust weighs shares on taxi market incorrectly

MOSCOW, Jun 15 (PRIME) -- Russian taxi aggregator Vezyot has opposed a ban on its acquisition by Yandex.Taxi from the Federal Antimonopoly Service and thinks the authority estimates the market incorrectly and is wrong about the market share resulting from the deal, Vezyot said late on June 11 in a statement.

“We’re unhappily surprised by the decision of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia and, certainly, disagree with it. We’re especially taken aback by the analysis conducted by the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia of the state of competition on the market of taxi aggregators,” Vezyot said.

The antitrust service earlier rejected Yandex’ request to acquire Vezyot saying the deal would raise the total share of Yandex.Taxi and Vezyot  market share to 70% on the nationwide scale.

Vezyot said that according to at least 10 independent researches, the total share of the taxi aggregators would not exceed 50%. Vezyot said the information had been handed over to the antitrust service.

“From our point of view, regardless of the evident facts, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia estimates the market of taxi aggregators incorrectly on purpose and, correspondingly, draws a faulty conclusion about the share,” Vezyot said.
